I “met” Alicia Saldenha on Twitter about 2 years ago. Alicia is a wonderful mix of talent! She is a vocalist, composer, scholar, university lecturer, actress and dancer. Based in Osaka, Japan, she independently self-released Dance with the Sun under her own label, Jem Adar Music. It is her debut solo album and showcases her talent as a singer-songwriter as well as co-producer.

Alicia Saldenha‘s unique sound can be described as funky soul with a twist of island sugar cane. A national of the Caribbean island republic of Trinidad and Tobago, she resides in Japan where she is a rising star in the independent soul music scene. In an environment notoriously difficult for “foreign artists” unsigned to major labels, Saldenha is breaking down barriers between races, cultures and languages and is performing with top Japanese and international artists.

A successful release tour included solo-out performances at Billboard Live Osaka and JZ Brat, Tokyo. Before this she also performed with the legendary Paul Jackson of Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters.
